At a minimum, professional drivers must complete 35 hours of CPC training every five years to retain their licences. In fact, training is an ongoing process that will continue throughout a driver's career. The student who completes HGV training and goes on to earn a commercial driving licence is ready to begin working in the field. We also include CPC training and certification for new students. Our training makes drivers aware of current regulations and the need to always follow the law. The rules governing how HGV drivers go about their business are constantly evolving to the extent the drivers cannot afford to be left behind. Third are the issues of legal compliance and professional competence. The topic of road safety is important enough that half of the questions on the theory exam relate to it. HGV drivers need to be well-versed in both the knowledge to avoid accidents and the skills to act and react accordingly when an accident cannot be avoided. Why? Because the size and weight of HGVs make them inherently dangerous to other drivers in the event of an accident. Second, high-quality HGV training places a heavy emphasis on road safety. In this way, drivers are able to focus all of their attentions on being the best drivers they can be.

Rather, it concentrates on only those things that are necessary. A quality training programme does not burden students with the information they do not need to know to be skilled professionals. So, what qualifies as 'quality' training? It starts with the knowledge and skills we impart. Our students who complete training and pass the HGV practical skills test go on to become productive professionals who earn an excellent living while making their employers proud. We focus on quality with the understanding that quality training provides the calibre of driver so desperately needed in the haulage and transport industries. The HGV Training Services (HGVT) takes great pride in the quality of the courses we offer.
