The split-screen mode supports up to four players, and there are plenty of variations beyond simple conquest: Domination (grabbing control points), Capture the Flag (or the pig, or the penguins), BombBall (some bizarre variation on soccer), and possibly others. There are sixty-four missions in the single-player game, but multiplayer gaming looks like where it's at. Then the fun begins, as the other Buddies attack with their own vicious creations, and mayhem erupts throughout eight different worlds.
Pushing the crates around into stacks and other combinations transforms them into weaponry: guns, bombs, flamethrowers, tanks, and an arsenal of other destructive devices. You command a team of Buddies (cylindrical cartoon-things), managing a supply of crates. Bomberman has always set the standard for four-player destruction, but the little guy may have some competition from the other side of the globe.
While fearsomely weird, though, the game still looks very promising. Previous Information Team Buddies is getting ready for its second E3, and surprise surprise, it still disturbs the heck out of us.
